FairMeter ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Location Data

We collect your device's location data to:

Calculate accurate fare estimates between pickup and drop-off points
Enable live ride tracking and sharing features
Provide real-time navigation and route information

How we use it: Location data is processed locally on your device and only shared when you explicitly enable live ride tracking. When sharing is active, location updates are stored in Firebase Firestore and automatically deleted when the ride ends.

User Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we collect:

Email address
Display name
Profile picture

How we use it: This information is used to create your personalized account, sync your trip history, and manage your premium subscription or credits.

Trip History

We store information about your calculated trips, including:

Pickup and drop-off locations (coordinates and addresses)
Fare estimates
Date and time of calculation
Vehicle number (if entered)

How we use it: Trip history helps you track past journeys, compare fares over time, and access quick recalculations.

How We Use Your Information

Fare Calculation: We use Ola Maps Directions API to calculate routes and distances
Live Tracking: Location data is used for real-time ride sharing with people you choose
Service Improvement: Analytics help us understand app usage and improve features
Monetization: We use Google AdMob to show ads (for non-premium users)

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google): Authentication, Firestore (database), Hosting
Ola Maps: Geocoding, routing, and map display
Google AdMob: Advertisement delivery

We do NOT sell your personal data to third parties. Live tracking links are only accessible to people you explicitly share them with.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
Firebase Firestore security rules to prevent unauthorized access
Automatic deletion of live ride data after session ends

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

Access: View your trip history in the app
Delete: Remove individual trips or clear all history
Revoke: Sign out to revoke app access to your Google account
Control Location: Disable location permissions in device settings (note: this will limit app functionality)

Location Permissions

FairMeter requires location permissions to function. You can control these in your device settings:

Allow while using: Recommended setting
Allow once: You'll be prompted each time
Deny: Manual address entry only

Children's Privacy

FairMeter is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Significant changes will be notified within the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
